T-Boone Pickens Wind Farms of the futrue

The CASE for WIND

Wind farms would be built in a wide corridor in the middle of the country,
from Texas to the Dakotas, where the ‘wind resources’ could make the
US the “Saudi Arabia of wind power,” Pickens says.

T-Boone also wants to increase the use of Natural Gas to replace the high price of fuel being used and imported today.

“I think Pickens plan is brilliant, it is something we can do and we should do,” argues Rich Kolodziej, president of NGVAmerica, a national organization that promotes the use of hydrogen and natural gas vehicles.

Fuel Economy: The Best Speed for Optimal MPGs

MyFox Twin Cities
by: Jeff Baillon

After several tests, the FOX 9 Investigators found the ideal cruising speed to get nearly 30 miles per gallon in an SUV with a government estimated 18 miles per gallon highway fuel economy.
. But the FOX 9 Investigators found you can cut nearly 40 percent of the cost by finding the right speed and setting the cruise control.
SPEED UP, BURN UP
65 MPH = 20.4 MPG
70 MPH = 18.9 MPG
75 MPH = 17.3 MPG
26 PERCENT DROP
SO, 55 IS THE BEST SPEED? NOPE
So, the moral of the story is drive 55 to get the best fuel economy, right?
Well, not really.
The 2005 Ford Explorer peaked at about 28 miles per gallon at 45 miles per hour
-- 10 more miles than a speed of 75 mph.
